Bright Side Of The Road

A Spiritual Journey Through Breast Cancer by Anne Marie Bennett

Everything you need you already have. You are complete right now, you are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else. Your completeness must be understood by you and experienced in your thoughts as your own personal reality.
- Dr Wayne Dyer

I often watch Oprah and something she said one day really struck a chord.

"You already have everything you need."

I can't even remember what the show was about, but what she was trying to get across is that whatever we want to achieve or whatever battles we face everything we need to triumph is already inside us.

Very recently, I was reminded of this quote again by Anne Marie Bennett in her moving autobiographical account of her spiritual journey through breast cancer Bright Side Of The Road.

Anne Marie shares with us her harrowing journey of being diagnosed with breast cancer to being cancer free after months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Through her experience we learn:

  • about true strength and courage and how little it has to do with how often we cry
  • we should be living in the moment because when all's said and done this moment is all we have
  • about the power of affirmations and visualization
  • how important it is to laugh
  • how asking for help is as much of a gift to the helper as it is to the one being helped
  • how accepting our circumstances is a choice that often needs to be made over and over again.

I could not tear myself away from this book once I started. It resonated with me on so many levels!

I recommend that anyone faced with a life altering diagnosis or who is imprisoned by their own thoughts of negativity and worry read this book.
